THE GREATEST PITCH
PRINCIPALITY BUILDING SOCIETY
PUTTING RIVALRIES ASIDE TO KEEP GRASSROOTS GROWING
During the Six Nations, Principality wanted to show their support for Welsh rugby. But the truth was, Welsh rugby was in a bad way. Grassroots pitches were being vandalised and left to ruin – so while others focused on the tournament, we went back to PBS’s community roots, kicking off an initiative that saw local clubs donate parts of their pitch to help save a club who’d lost theirs. Starting with Leigh Halfpenny’s first club, Gorseinon RFC.
As a living monument to Wales' love of the sport, we got the whole country involved, sending packs to 100 clubs, and turning Principality branches into local 'pitch deposit' points.
As donations came in, a huge storm hit the country, putting everything on hold. But the pitch is in the pipeline, so watch this space…
